In many feminist & womanist circles around the world
woman has been a source of light.
Let no one fool you. NO MALE is responsible for
women and girls being more determined than ever
to have ALL of the issues impacting women front &
center in political discourse.
Our female anatomy is important.
Our safety is important.
Our dignity is important.
In recent years when women & girls were
discouraged from discussing our anatomy and
health issues because it was considered "hate",
Nomcebo, in her gracious way, continued
to speak for women & girls female specific
health issues.
I recall the days when many of us were growing
weary- tired, fed up, and just outright disgusted-
Nomcebo would just appear on social media with
images of big smiling faces. Accompanying those
faces would be simple truths like:
All #Girls deserve #periods dignity
#StopTheStigma #MenstruationMatters #Pads
Especially bold words when women
everywhere were
being canceled by universities,
online retailers, social media platforms and
abandoned by employers, allies, friends &
family.
That is the power of light.
