I was not surprised that Black women seemed to suggest that the needs of girls were less important. Black girls growing up in the United States learn this lesson too well.
"Lose Gracefully"
Fatima Goss Graves advising girls to "lose gracefully" to males in women's sports saddened me. But I understood the origin.
"Lose gracefully." On their own domain. Female athletes should lose gracefully to males who proclaim to be women.
So just off of the strength of his own word-no objective scientific test to verify anything-just his word, a male proclaims that he is a a woman and he gets to compete against women. He gets to win all the awards, all the sponsorships, and all of the scholarships.
In this misogynist world, males get to do anything and everything that they want to do off of the strength of their own word-with males AND females backing them up.
Because it works the same way if said male assaults women and/or girls. He can assault women and/or girls, say that he doesn't know what these people are talking about and nothing will happen to him. Conviction rates for sexual assault are extremely low.
Women and girls must "lose gracefully". Go on with life..... quietly.
Girls are Children Too
Summer Lee.
Summer Lee read about the benefits of sports to young people but failed to include female athletes.
“Madam Chair, I ask that while we sit through this hearing and the hateful misinformation I’m sure is coming our way, let us not forget the children at the core of this issue,” Lee stated.
Aren't girls children?
Girls are children too.
Girls are deserving of the benefits of sports too.
"The children at the core of this issue?" Representative Summer Lee read all of that as if it did not apply to girls.
Girls are watching and hearing you push them to the side while you simply take the word of a male.
Girls are watching as you take everything from them and give it all to males.
Girls are watching as you treat them as if they are undeserving of what their foremothers fought for.
Clarity is good though.
This cruelty must come to an end. We need leaders who want better for girls than what we had.
We need leaders who stand up for women and girls.
Girls are enough just as they are.
