Music has been an integral part of our lives since forever. It has the power to evoke emotions that words sometimes fail to convey. Often, we find ourselves drifting away with the rhythm, getting lost in the melody, and feeling a euphoric wave sweeping over us.

Losing a great and legendary icon like Tina Turner 👑reminds us to stop and reflect upon the women who have contributed to music against the odds.

Women like- 👑Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Janet Jackson, Stephanie Mills, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Madonna, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston- 👑have all left a mark on the music industry.

They showed the world that women are a force to be reckoned with.

Women have broken barriers and defied stereotypes to make our voices heard. They have contributed to every genre of music, including rock (Tina Turner and Sister Rosetta Tharpe...) country, jazz, blues, and hip-hop.

They have written, composed, and performed some of the most iconic songs in history, which are still popular today.

Women in music have used their voices, lyrics, and celebrity to confront sexism, misogyny, racism, homophobia, poverty, global human suffering, violence, abuse, senseless wars, child abuse, ......and any other social problem one can think of.

It is essential to remember and acknowledge the contributions that women have made to the music industry, to the world, to society, and to our lives as individuals.

It is crucial for women to see other women making a significant impact in a male-dominated field as it inspires them to pursue their dreams and not to let anyone hold them back.

Women have been making remarkable contributions to music throughout history, and their efforts should not be forgotten or overshadowed.

We must acknowledge and celebrate their achievements to inspire the generations of young women who aspire to make their mark in the world in whatever work, calling, or passion they chose to dedicate their lives and energy to.

Let us continue to honor their legacy and give them the recognition they deserve.

For so many millions of us around the world, Tina Turner was like a motion detector light that came on in our darkness. Reading her book, seeing her film, seeing her love, seeing her perform, seeing her live...we KNEW that overcoming the very worst in this life was indeed possible.

AND...that we too might be able to dance sing with millions and look gorgeous with our dignity and self-respect packed neatly in place when we got on the other side.

May our great shero who has guided many of us through a dark day, finally rest in peace.

Sharing one of my favorite personal playlists of women music makers. (About 300+ songs
